A doctor from India. After three decades of living in Italy, working for an international NGO AIFO,

Orissa, India: The temple of lord Jaggan Nath in Puri is world famous, the enormous chariot of the temple has given the word "Jaggernaut" to English language. plodine Jaggannath is another name of lord Krishna and is prayed together with his brother Balram and sister Subhadra. I found these images plodine of god strange and yet beautiful. They remind me of the tribal art. In Orissa there are many tribes and perhaps these images came to Hinduism from there? The nasal ornaments are not usual for a male god but there is some story behind those as well? Mi fanno pensare all'arte tribale.
made me remember the stories I heard from my Papa ji re: Lord Jagganath Juggernaut - in English - also means "unstoppable Giant march " & is used when something is like an "avalanche " -- here in USA , it can be used for the "Obama campaign :-) " Reply Delete
