An encyclopedia can be considered more like a mission impossible, but not for a researcher as Hudhri Ferid, who for years has researched all the labyrinths of visual art, Albanian and foreign, of all times. By bringing to market the works that would be a great research work and very difficult even for an entire team of researchers, and not for a single.
"Albanians in the Art World" came as a result precisely of these ongoing research, of over 40 years, during which created a rich archive of more than 1400 folders with over 7000 archival units.
There are a number of well-known authors, painters and sculptors, their work with the Albanian subject they realized, creation and history of exposure, movements that have undergone these works from one country to another, and the final location of the original. The authors included in this publication were selected from over 1250 artists, who have created the special file with information about the treatment of Albanian topic, as well as reproductions of works of art.
Western Mountain Home Çikës, which rises above the villages Palasë, Dhërmi of Vunoi, cracked dry streams deep abyss, with little greenery in the lower part, looks more impressive when looking from far distance from coast sea. From this perspective are distinct and that the flint lightning over head high peaks, on rainy days. Horizontal surface of the sea there looks like a basement flat from the stands as a giant bowl, up to 2040 m altitude rocky ridge Albanian south. These are mountains and mountains Akrokeraune Thunderbolt, as recognized by foreigners.
Thence by their appearance looked more intriguing, but there are also made of the earliest descriptions of this beautiful monument of nature. On the sea front began descriptions of the ancient geographers Strabo period of Ptolemy, while Akrokeraune Mountains greatness was present at the creativity of some of the most prominent authors of global securities as Homer, Horace, Aeschylus, Virgil, Klaudian and Byron, qualifying as gargantuan mountains limiting the quiet depths (Klaudian, epigrams LXXXV), or as the majestic mountains (that) are extolled heatons sight / As bowl volcanic nature heatons (Byron, Childe Harold, verse 51) etc.. Virgil, citing the Eneida (Part III), writes: heatons Near rocks Keraunias continued our journey / shortest route to the Italian coast ... (under translation by R. Kadia). Many years later, by defining "rock garden", which made these mountains Englishman Paul Edmonds, took the title essay of Konica known for Albania. After describing the extent of the mountains themselves Konica Akrokeraune underlined their greatness that has made great impression Roman naturalist, Pliny the elder, as once in his writings he says to them: "They are curved like a theater", while in days Our - continues Konica - their greatness belts-belts to Albania defining hit "Rock Garden of Southeastern Europe" (P. Edmonds, To the Land of the Eagle, London 1927, p. 4).
There are also many other descriptions or citations to Akrokeraune Mountains, while immortalization most beautiful of them are made in art. Painterly images earliest known so far belong to the early years of the nineteenth century. British artist HW Williams heatons (1773-1829), while traveling from Italy to Greece, in 1819, observed from afar and, surprised by their appearance, first drawing made by the board of the ship. Although in the first, and in most of GRAVURES, sailors and objects appear different environments deck, the title of the work has come from the high mountains of the Albanian coast, drawn in the background of the picture. Later, the painter that came to paint the view from Italy and Greece, the ship approached the coast of Himara Vlora. Thence conducted dozens of drawings, on the basis of which were shaped by three other etchings of titled: Panorama mountain in Albania, Vlora Bay (Golf of Avlona), coast of southern heatons Albania. A year later, when he returned home, Williams along with the book Travels in Italy, Greece and the Ionian islands (Travels heatons in Italy, Greece and the Ionian Islands, Edinburgh, 1820), also published heatons prints inspired by Akrokeraune Mountains.
